September 25, 2023
On the 21st October we celebrated Children's Week 2023 with our 'Worlds of Wonder' event, held in the East Bentleigh Village Gardens. It was a beautiful sunny morning, so all of our families that attended were able to make the most of the beautiful gardens, new toys, entertainment and activities!
The Children’s Week theme for 2023 is based on UNCRC Article 31: ‘Children have the right to relax, play and take part in activities they enjoy’. More info on that here.
We think we really hit the nail on the head with this one!
Thanks to grants from City of Kingston and the Victorian Government, the event was full of fun with circus entertainment, giant bubbles & face painting from Hoop Sparx. We were also able to purchase a range of fantastic new toys which were showcased on the day and are now available for members to borrow (see more on that below).
Moongala Women’s Community House kindly provided 100 beautifully painted rocks which were hidden around the gardens for everyone to find. The kids had so much fun hunting these out and then re-hiding them for others to find! These rocks are part of a larger VicRocks initiative which seeks to inspire joy & connection in communities. You can read up more about that by following the link to their Facebook page.
Check out some of the photos below, and thanks to all our members that attended, we hope you all had fun and we loved being able to put the event on for you!
