Celebrating Naidoc Week 2022

July 04, 2022

NAIDOC Week (3-10 July) is a time to learn about and celebrate First Nations’ cultures and histories.

NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is celebrated by all Australians and is a great opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
This year’s NAIDOC Week theme is ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!’
You could celebrate at home by borrowing some of the First Nations’ Puzzles, Games & Dolls we have in our collection (Serpents and Songlines game pictured below), or by reading some books focusing on First Nations’ stories and culture to your children.
Some of our faves are pictured below, all of which should be available at your local library.

Kingston Libraries are also hosting Drop-in NAIDOC Celebration Crafts across several of their branches, check out their website for more details.

Highett Library- Tuesday 5th July

Cheltenham Library- Friday 8th July

You could also download a colour-in copy of the 2022 poster here to print out for the kids!
