Children's Week Stay & Play was a blast!

November 12, 2022

We had so much fun celebrating Children's Week with a special stay and play held at the end of October.

Children’s Week is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children.
The 2022 theme is “All Children have the right to a standard of living that supports their wellbeing and healthy development”, drawn from Article 27 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

With the support of a grant from City of Kingston council, we were able to purchase a range of new ‘healthy home’ toys that will allow our members to role play various activities connected with our homes. These were a big hit with the families that visited on the day, we loved seeing how all the children came together to play and some of the scenarios they came up with amazing!

We were also able to provide a collaborative craft activity where everyone created their own house, cafe or other building they thought was important to the community and added it it our ‘Healthy & Happy Neighborhood’, with a Toy Library included of course!

There was even a visit from our local MP Nick Staikos, who joined in the fun and contributed his support on the day.

Thanks to all our members who visited on the day or joined, as well as our volunteers and coordinators who help to make these events happen, they will be back in 2023!
